RIDE THE EDGE
On July 12, a group of cyclists will participate in Ride the Edge, a 275-mile bike ride that hugs the perimeter of Suffolk County. All proceeds will benefit the Flying Point Foundation for Autism, a nonprofit that provides programs and services to individuals with autism.
The challenging endurance ride will be completed in one day, expected to take about 17 hours including stops for sustenance. Total time in the saddle will be about 14 to 15 hours!
The ride’s 275 miles, which starts in Eastport, touches every corner of Suffolk, including the far reaches of the East End and Shelter Island,. Those who have signed on to ride this grueling challenge will ride together, plus pick up some cycling friends along the way, while maintaining a crushing 20 mph average for the entire route.
